Message I'm with you on the kill stories (even though I did post about thrashing that Corbin Sparrow...twas humor ;) )

However, you're not quite on target with your F1 analogy. True, money plays a big part, but I think racing and F1 teams are about much more than just the actual race on Sunday. Yes setup is a big part, but also how you develop your chasis and aero. Strategy off the track if you will. Sure it is easier if you have beaucoup $, but teams with equal budgets will end up on totally different ends of the points scale due to how they play out their strategy: development, drivers, setup etc. Look at it as tiered competition: 3 tiers 1) the Ferrarri, McLaren, and Williams' of the world 2) Jordan, Jaguar et all 3) Arrows, Minardi, Prost? etc. and who knows where Toyota will land this year. no different than your standard NFL weekend - some top teams - some middle and some bottom. Same goes for your drag racing teams - strategy is more than a lead foot.

While you don't quite come flat out and say it, you imply that even mediocre drivers can win with the best equipment (Barichello anyone?). I disagree, the best talent tends to end up in the best car. They may not start there, but their ability to perform with lesser rides is what gets them noticed. Case in point: the greatest there was: Ayrton Senna and the JPS Lotus at Monaco. Look at who has the top rides today and you'll see the top talent: the Schumachers, DC, Raikonen etc and not Alex Yoong or Enrique Bernoldi (not yet anyways).

Even my former teammate Thierry Boutsen drove with Arrows and got noticed on skills and moved up to Benneton and Williams rides without the major sponsor dollars in his pocket.

If you want true class racing (not even IRL is that), take a look at Skip Barber's series, Formula Dodge or Barber Dodge Pro. These are an example competitions where it is as close as it gets to pure driver talent to win.

ok F1 rant off....and yeah points for the unfair road race kill comment, a real race involves turns (right and left! ) lol
